Behind the Webcomic

To start off with, Adam Comix Inc. began its history way back in the late 1990s, when I was creating characters for I can’t remember what. One of the first characters I created was a letter. With eyes. And a funny hat. And Ayius was born. Early versions of him had arms, a more pink colour and a much lighter personality, not unlike that of Gee.

Earliest version of Ay

Earliest version of Ay

As you can see, not a particularly pretty sight. At first, I was content with him. Thought he could be a neat role model. But as I grew, I came to the horrible realistic truth: this Ay was a wuss.
I needed to upgrade him, and fast.
I first started on his personality. Taking examples from some of the funniest and craftiest characters I had seen, heard, or read about, Ay beame a much more cynical prankster.
After I had developed his lovely sense of humour, I decided to work on his appearance. I removed his baseball cap – too “little kid”-like. After several options, including a wig, a viking hat, and even an afro, I eventually stopped on what is now his trademark top hat. It just fit.
You’ve also noticed he used to have arms and legs. I noticed that with those, he didn’t seem very flexable. Taking inspiration from several sources, which included Rayman and the advisor from Theme Park World (SimTheme Park in US), I decided to remove them, leaving only his hands and feet behind.
Ay had become the sly character he was supposed to be.
Coming Soon – How the webcomic is made and published.
